Carl Friedrich von Rumohr e l'arte nell'Italia settentrionale

Abstract

Nonostante lo studio dell’arte dell’Italia settentrionale non sia mai stato il campo di indagine privilegiato di C. F. von Rumohr, soprattutto i Drey Reisen nach Italien (1832) e l’articolo Gemälde von Moretto (1837) – l’unica pubblicazione dello studioso interamente dedicata ad un artista di quest’area geografica – costituiscono un punto di vista privilegiato per ricostruire il gusto e le osservazioni di uno studioso sempre alla ricerca del confronto diretto con le opere e con i documenti, capace di giudizi indipendenti e mai banali.

Even though the art in Northern Italy has never been Rumohr’s favourite matter, especially the Drey Reisen nach Italien (1832) and the article Gemälde von Moretto (1837) – the only publication Rumohr gave up to an artist of this geographical area – are really important to understand and try to reconstruct the taste and the observations of a scholar who always looked for the direct face to face with masterpieces and documents, able to give independent and never banal critical opinions.
