Starting from the online experimentations of performing arts artists during the two-year pandemic period (Gemini, Brilli, Giuliani, 2020; Monteverdi, 2023), we can now observe the consolidation of the experience of some of the «emergency experimenters» (Brilli, Gemini, Giuliani, 2022) who continue to test different gradients of theatrical liveness (Gemini, Brilli, 2021) to activate new «dynamics of connection and audience involvement» (Patti, 2021). These innovative projects, moving between performances, platforms and connected audiences, question the nature of digital devices to recontextualise theatrical, choreographic and performative dynamics and practices in virtual environments. As we are now witnessing, after the emergency phase, a restoration at the level of both theatre programming and production support, it seems necessary to try to historicise this phenomenon by keeping track of online digital performance (Dixon, 2007) and OTONI - Online Theatre Objects (Not Identified). For this reason, the contribution explores the evolution of theatre research in the digital context of the artist Giacomo Lilliù/Collettivo Ønar, observing it from the process of mediatisation of theatre (Del Gaudio, 2021; Brilli, Gemini, 2022).
